New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium Issues Two Requests for Proposals

March 28th, 2016

New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium has issued two requests for proposals and is currently accepting applications for Program Development and Summer Research  grants.

Program Development Grant

New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium has Program Development funds available for 2016 to support research initiatives that can later form the basis of future competitive proposals. It is anticipated that two projects will be awarded in this cycle.  All Program Development Grant Proposals must address at least one of the following NJSGC Programmatic Focus Areas:

  • Healthy Coastal Ecosystems Sustainable Coastal Development
  • Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture
  • Resilient Communities and Economies
  • Environmental Literacy and Workforce Development

Applications are due by 5 p.m. 25 April 2016. For more information, visit here.

Undergraduate Summer Research Minigrant

The education and professional development of our future marine scientists is a major outcome of our strategic plan. The goal of this minigrant is to provide summer research opportunities for undergraduates enrolled at New Jersey’s colleges and universities.  NJSGC anticipates funding up to three $2000 minigrants for summer research in 2016.  Proposals and research will be student led with support from their faculty mentor.

Interested students should read the most recent NJSGC omnibus research RFP for potential research ideas that match research relevancy criteria that respond to coastal and marine research needs in New Jersey. Research should be conducted between May and September with final reporting by end of November 2016. The deadline is 4 pm on 25 April. Click here for more information.

For any questions on either RFP, please contact Dr. Peter M. Rowe at 732-872-1300 x 31 or [email protected].
